Westwind is a 4,600 m2 two storey school. It consists of 19 classrooms, 7 kindergartens, administration suite, specialty classrooms, library, gymnasium, and a unique town hall/multipurpose room.
The school was conceived as a crisp modern rectilinear shape incorporating best practice sustainable design features. This allowed for maintaining some of the wooded areas, reduction in heat islands (paved areas), smaller built footprint, high performance and energy efficient mechanical systems (savings in operating costs), as well as a super insulated modular wall panel and window glazing system (savings in construction time). Factory assembled products reduce the carbon footprint, reduce waste, and improve quality.
