Bridlewood Public School

Ottawa, Ontario

Bridlewood is a 5,800 m² two storey school. It consists of 18 classrooms, 4 kindergartens, speciality rooms, gymnasium, library, administrative facilities, and childcare facility.

The school has a concrete frame designed to conform to the Model National Energy Code for Buildings as well as NRCan’s CBIP program. The childcare is clad with fibre cement siding, and utilizes in floor heating to create a comfortable play space for children. The remainder of the building is clad in traditional “Rideau Red” brick, and stone masonry with an Alucabond parapet giving the school a traditional, yet modern architectural language. Construction was completed in 10 months, on budget and schedule.
